LUNAS

By Dr. Sonny Sendon

Walang makapagsabi sa kaniyang mga anak.

Palyadong megalungsod ang kaniyang puso,

sanga-sanga’t baradong eskinita ang mga ugat.

Walang ibang lunas kundi agas.

NETFLIX

By Dr. Gloria Giselle Pattaguan

After a toxic day

After a warm bath to kill the germs away

To my room upstairs I trudge

And grab my tablet as I lie supine

In my bed where my comfort lie

Netflix here I come

Where I get lost in your world of wonder and fun

While the outside world moves on.

MAY 2020

By Dr. Emely Pasumbal

May 2020. One PUI and everything goes into a standstill. Waiting for confirmation seems like an eternity. The result comes out positive… sighs… silence.  Commotion. Silence again. But the turmoil continues within.  The instinct is to hide, each one hoping for a volunteer. And when there is none, it becomes a Russian roulette. A sudden death.

HALF AND HALF

By Dr. Irene Catambing Dampil

A serving of the pandemic with a touch of irony.

That prefix to denote the "all encompassing" and yet here we are

Forced to order the half and half

The neither here nor there

Reach out but make it virtual

Help others but not at any risk

Be emphatic but keep your distance

Live life but wait for better days

PANDEMIC SAGA

By Dr. Ariel Ilaya

It’s Christmas time again

The season of celebration and merrymaking

The season I’ve been waiting

But comes the pandemic

The world turned upside down

No celebrations, No Christmas

But to stay only at home

Luckily for this year

Pandemic saga is waning

Let us all rejoice

Christmas carols, parties, and happy faces are back again
