I have been careful
Putting on my PPE
Not my first time
But still with anxiety
Saw patients inside
Came out feeling fine
But after ten days
Fever envelops me
Food has no taste
I need to isolate
Infected with COVID
Good thing I’m vaccinated
Better yet I’m an introvert
Alone time I’m the expert

As the old adage says, “Nothing is permanent in this world except change.”
A striking proverb that has shifted my perspective from being encased in the four walls of the wards to the wide and challenging world of the frontlines.
Everyday will be dynamic and different…
Marami pang pagdadaanan…

May pagdanak, panaghoy, pagtangis
Paano naman tutugon sa iyak ng nasa harapan?
Gusto ko na matapos at umalis
Marahil kulang sa tulog
Kinapos din siguro ng tulong

The dark seems abysmal.
The wind brings about a chill that seeps deep in the bones. 2 am, always hit like either you're on top of the world or under it.
Tonight's latter.
There's no such thing as 'being immune' to this feeling, to this disease.
This is probably a curse to being a physician at these times. Feeling too much, seeing too much -death.
Maybe there's hope, maybe there's life -come by morning.

Your favorite chair
in front of the television
has remained empty ever since.
I wish I could still
see You sitting there.
Doesn’t matter if we
won’t chat.
As long as
You’re sitting
on your chair,
enjoying the shows
You love to watch.
I just want to see,
You again,
be with,
Papa.
