PRE-PANDEMIC LEAVE

By Dr. Ella Mae Masamayor

On vacation, I distance myself as far as possible from work. In that particular March of 2020, I was in Vigan, enjoying the Instagram-worthy towns and the crispy bagnet with my family. Worry-less. Careless. Maskless.

“Kailan balik mo?” the chief resident messaged.

“March 16 sir.”

When I came back, life was never the same again.

POWER

By Dr. Rogelio Balagat

Words carry power. More so a doctor’s over a patient. Said to a healthy patient, your sugar is up. Next time I see her, she is so weakened. Stopped eating rice.

ACTING MY AGE

By Dr. Jen Alabado

I’m a child of the new millennium.

Gaming is life, RPG, a favorite genre.

Aging is mandatory, staying young is a choice.

Please forgive me.

Let me leave my burdens at the door.

Let me travel to another world for but a few hours.

For I also tire of healing so many in this one

The Good Healer

By Dr. Christian Bernardo

The darkest day of my life is when I had a broken marriage. I was wounded. I bleed profusely. Because of that scar, I became more emphatic with my patients. I can feel their hurt because I experienced it myself. Be proud of your BEAUTIFUL SCAR and use that to heal others. Be a GOOD HEALER.

PARTY

By Dr. Ofelia Samar-Sy

At a COVID hospital’s Christmas cum graduation Party

First after the pandemic.

Planned to just show up,

but was glued until bewitching midnight.

 DOH bigwigs came.

…spoke

"Serve the government"

Doctors were busy preparing for presentations.

Were they listening?

Clueless

Everyone was focused on winning 20k.

They oozed talent.

Slept soundly thereafter.

Giggling…
