PRESS RELEASE DONATION YOLANDA VICTIMS

The Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) is deeply saddened by the massive devastation caused by super typhoon Yolanda on our fellow Filipinos, particularly in the Visayas. As our country faces this very challenging time, we encourage our fellow doctors to share their expertise and compassionate heart to our brothers and sisters who badly need assistance for treatment and healing.

We are sending the PCP chapter in Cebu City to Ormoc, Leyte to augment our fellow physicians who have been guarding their post to heal the sick and injured. Our members, who have been standing their ground in Ormoc District Hospital, are victims themselves of the calamity and will need augmentation to continue to help our kababayan there. The PCP is also preparing to send another medical team to Tacloban City but we are still awaiting the results of the assessment of needs in the area conducted by our colleagues.

The PCP is encouraging other medical professionals who may want to volunteer and be a part of the medical staff who can be deployed to the provinces that are badly hit by super typhoon Yolanda. In cooperation with the Department of Health, we are deploying medical staff to the provinces based on the assessment done by the DOH Operations Center. We are also soliciting cash donations and goods, especially drinking water, and medical supplies that are most needed by victims and survivors of this calamity.

For further inquiries, those interested to help may contact PCP secretariat at 910-2250.  Look for Ms. Ces Alfonso.
