The Philippine Society of General Internal Medicine, led by its President Dr. Diana Tamondong-Lachica, successfully conducted the first Joint PSGIM-PCP Committee on Residency Training Program Workshop on “Strengthening Training in Primary Care for IM Residents.” The workshop was attended by 47 participants from accredited training institutions (ATIs) in the National Capital Region. The workshop highlighted and discussed strategies to support the roles of the primary care internist: provide first contact management, give comprehensive definitive care, coordinate health systems services, and serve as principal point of continuing care – all of which are stipulated in the UHC Law. Two more workshops are lined up as well; one with ATIs from Luzon on January 22, 2020 and another one for Visayas/Mindanao on February 19, 2020.
The Development Dimensions International - Management consulting company (DDI Philippines) tackled the 4 topics: Traditional Media by Manuel L. Quezon III; The Philippine Social Media Environment “So, sino ang mag-aadjust?” by Mr. Yolando Jamendang, Jr., Spokesperson 101 by Atty. Edwin Lacierda, and Basics of Crisis Communication “Don’t Panic!!!” by Manuel L. Quezon III.
The workshop conducted a Crisis Simulation Exercise where the participants divided into 4 groups and will be given a different Crisis Situation. Upon the exercise, all the members will sit in the front while bombarded by the unexpected questions from the DDI team – disguising as the media.
